Currently on my easel is this work for a retirement home. Residents of the home have aging eyes and aging memories, so recognizable scenes familiar to them are comforting and help memory. Residents need standard colors, with deeper saturation and high contrast to help with visual recognition. So, I’m trying something new – a line underpainting with high contrast and thick lines to make the image quickly recognizable. I’ve added lots of shadow. We’ll see if it fits the need when I’m done. This is the largest work I’ve ever done at 24×48 inches.
